Truck Operators - Napier/Hawkes Bay, Ruapehu, Masterton, Whanganui

We’re on the look out for an awesome Class 5 Truck Operator to take the wheel of one of our units and truck around the Lower North Island hauling wood. Why do we think this is the best job in NZ?

Welder Fabricator/ Engineer

Heavy Transport Engineering

McCarthy Transport Engineering is a leading provider of logging transport equipment.

From our clean and modern workshop in Whanganui, our experienced engineers manufacture quality equipment for the log transport industry. Working from cab and chassis, we custom design our unique log trailers and trucks. We also provide engineering services to over 140 truck and trailer units in the McCarthy Transport logging fleet, as well as external customers from all over New Zealand.

We are seeking an exceptional person with the following abilities and skills, to join our friendly team:

  • Experience in the transport industry or heavy fabrication.
  • Competent in Mig welding of high tensile steel components.
  • Able to read engineering drawings.
  • Able to work unsupervised and responsibly.
  • Be motivated and a self-starter.
  • Hold a current Class 1 driver’s licence.
  • Capable of holding welding tickets, AS/NZS 1554.1.

Other licence classes and forklift tickets will be an advantage, as is knowledge of the heavy transport industry.

We are currently working regular overtime. We also have a rotating weekend roster for Saturday work.

Life and trauma insurance are available through our company scheme.
